Ceramisphere Encapsulation Technology

  • Encapsulation of bio-actives in silica matrix entails a combination of emulsion and sol-gel chemistry
  • Emulsion provides compartmentalization of the bioactive into droplets where each emulsion droplet is mini-reactor
  • Sol-gel process allows the formation of the silica matrix at room temperature.
  • Our process is a “true encapsulation” process which produces spheres with a sponge like structure where the active is homogeneously distributed inside the pores.
  • The physical entrapment of the bioactive inside the matrix provides enhanced protection of the payload.
  • The drug release occurs by diffusion through the porous network and is controlled by the internal structure of the spheres, without having to rely on external environmental factors.
  • The production processes are easily scalable due to the compartmentalisation of the chemical reactions inside the emulsion droplets.

We are an Australian based drug delivery company focused on the development of our “zero-waste” transdermal patches for the delivery of analgesics with an emphasis on controlled drugs for pain-relief and for development of smart bioactive wound care products with minimal pain and scarring. We are seeking partners to help us progress our “zero-waste” nanocomposite patch technology through early clinical trials with a view to license the technology for specific therapeutic applications to patch or wound dressing manufacturers or pharmaceutical companies.
